The project comprised the refurbishment of two historic buildings and the formation of a diagrid glass roofed atrium. The project won RICS, and RIBA awards within regional education categories.
Engineering Heartspace comprises phases three and four of a wider redevelopment of the University of Sheffield’s St Georges campus where Castle Owen were appointed as Project managers and multi disciplinary consultants. Our team lead the enabling works phase of the project which included the formation of temporary laboratories in a near by building enabling the decant of the affected buildings prior to the main contract work. Also in order to de-risk the project an early project to remove asbestos, demolish existing buildings and carry out structural adaptations was also lead by Castle Owen as building surveyors project managers and principal designers.
